Life now or life forever?
*****
36 For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?37 For what can a man give in return for his soul? Mark 8.
What is the value of your eternal soul? Clearly, Jesus believes it should be valued above everything else. This should be obvious yet our lives don’t always seem to reflect this in regard to our eternal future.
We secure our houses and property. We do everything to secure our investments and worry at the slight possibility of losing them. We listen to our doctors and nutritionists; eat well and pursue healthy lifestyles because we value this life and want to live longer. But how come we do so little for the most precious part of us, our eternal souls? For some, our souls are lost, malnutritioned, sick and dying but we don’t seem to care that much. How illogical!
It seems either we don’t know the value of our souls or don’t value our eternal life that much? How absurd! If we did and we most certainly should; we would pay careful attention to Jesus Word and turn to him for eternal salvation.
35 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it. Mark 8.
Our eternal life is worth much more than this temporal life and the only way to save it is entrusting our lives to Jesus; losing it now to follow Jesus and serve the Gospel. Let those who would save their souls forever, follow and live for Jesus now.
34 And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. Mark 8.
