Love your neighbour more than yourself

*****
Is it possible that the command to love our neighbour as we love ourselves was given subject to our human condition that is obsessed with self. Because in our sinfulness the man we truly love isn’t God or our neighbour but me.
Is it possible then that the law of love understood correctly and in the spirit of the new life in Christ actually means loving our neighbour more than ourselves just like with the rule on divorce which was only given due to the hardness of the human heart; They said, “Moses allowed a man to write a certificate of divorce and to send her away.” And Jesus said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment. But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’, Mark 10. It follows that there was more to this law as Jesus explained and perhaps there’s more to the second greatest commandment as well.

Therefore, it would mean that when we commit ourselves to Christ Lordship; to love him with everything we have more than we love ourselves, Mark 12:30, he sends us to love others more just as he loved us and died for us.
For we died to self to live for God and so a better rule is here to love others deeply and without limit just as Christ loved us. And what is the most loving thing than to tell them the truth, that in Jesus we have our salvation and everything good we can ever desire awaiting us in heaven.

But perhaps nothing much changes with this understanding but if you love them as love yourself and really believe the Gospel, you know it’s in their best interest to hear and believe this saving news and if you love them more then you shouldn’t wait a minute longer.
